JFB Introduces Topical Reviews

www.blackwellpublishing.com/journals/jfb

The Journal of Fish Biology is the official journal of the Fisheries Society of the British Isles (FSBI) and publishes leading peer-reviewed papers on all aspects of fish biology and fishery science. JFB will in future include one topical review paper with each issue.  These reviews will be concise (up to 30 printed pages of the Journal), but critical and creative. The aim is to stimulate topical debate, and highlight new and exciting areas of research. Authors interested in participating in this innovation are welcome to submit a two-page synopsis of their proposed paper to the Reviews Editor, Dr M.J.Kaiser, University of Wales - Bangor, School of Ocean Sciences, Menai Bridge, Gwynedd LL59 5EY (or by e-mail: m.j.kaiser@bangor.ac.uk).  The synopsis should outline why the review is topical, its main points and objectives, and how it will stimulate debate and new research. If the proposal is accepted, the Reviews Editor will discuss further the arrangements for manuscript submission and preparation.  The published papers will follow the general guidelines for JFB, as printed in the journal.  JFB offers rapid publication usually - 3 months from the date of acceptance.  The lead author of review articles will receive £200 worth of Blackwell Science books on publication of reviews.

We hope that you may be able to contribute to this new outlet for papers that are more wide ranging and flexible than the usual research reports and look forward to hearing about your ideas. You can find out more about the journal, details about stylistic requirements and copyright forms at the URL link above.
